This chapter provides information for using the Duo system. The OCTANE workstation was designed for a single user. This chapter helps you become aware of some of the idiosyncracies of dual usage, and provides you with instructions for specific tasks.
Be sure you have read the README file on the Duo CD that directs you to the location of the release notes. The release notes direct you to the correct software and patches, and any other information you may need about the Duo system.
When using the Duo system, keep this information in mind:
Simultaneous use in the same account by users on head 0 and head 1 is not supported.
System start up, shut down, and warning messages appear only on the primary head, as does the System Maintenance Menu.
Use the Search for Files command from the Toolchest > Find, rather than File QuickFind or Host QuickFind; these pop up simultaneously on both heads 0 and 1.
If a System Administrative tool launched from the Desktop does not complete a function, despite being supplied with the root password, perhaps the same application is running under a second account on the Duo system.

When using rsh, use rsh usr@remote host -display localhost:1 . This command brings the output to head 1.
To run an application from a remote host and displayed on head 1, use rsh remotehost applicationname -display localhost:1. |
Using an icon to launch an application. | Launch the application from the head you want to use. The icon always appears on the head from which it was launched. |
