Patch 3174 is required for all Origin200 GIGAchannel systems running IRIX 6.4. If the server is running IRIX 6.5 and later, you do not need to install patch 3174.

If you are installing a GIGAchannel upgrade, you must install patch 3174 before installing the GIGAchannel upgrade hardware (the XIO adapter board and connectors). If you install the hardware first, the system will not boot.

If you are authorized by Silicon Graphics to install a GIGAchannel upgrade, refer to the Origin200 GIGAchannel Upgrade Installation Instructions (p/n 108-0187-001) for installing the upgrade hardware. A copy of these instructions is available for Silicon Graphics personnel in the Technical Publications Library at http://techpubs.engr.sgi.com/library/lib/makepage.cgi?108-0187-001 .

If a CD-ROM containing patch 3174 is not available, you can obtain a copy from the following location:
dist.engr:/released/6.4/patches/restricted/patch3174_RESTRICTED. If you are a customer who needs a copy of this patch, and you do not have access to this location, contact Silicon Graphics or your local service provider for information about obtaining this patch.

Patch 2980 should not be installed on the same system as patch 3174. If patch 2980 is installed on the Origin200 server that you are upgrading, first remove patch 2980 from the system, then install patch 3174, followed by the GIGAchannel upgrade hardware.
