Chapter 1. SGI 1100 Server Errata

This errata supplies additions and corrections to SGI 1100 Server User's Guide (007-4337-001). It provides the following information, which is not covered in that guide:

Selecting the ATI Rage II XL Graphics Device

This section describes how to select the correct graphics device during the installation of the Red Hat 6.2, TurboLinux 6.0, or Suse 7.0 operating systems.

Selecting the ATI Rage II XL Graphics Device During the Installation of Red Hat 6.2 and TurboLinux 6.0

If you are installing Red Hat 6.2 or TurboLinux 6.0, you are prompted to select a graphics device. To select the correct graphics device, scroll through the list of graphics devices and select “ATI Rage 128 (Generic).” Then click OK and proceed with the installation.

Selecting the ATI Rage II XL Graphics Device During the Installation of Suse 7.0

If you are installing Suse 7.0, you will see that the “ATI Mach64” graphics device is selected by the installer. Do not install this device. Instead, de-select “ATI Mach64,” and then scroll to and select “ATI Rage 128 (Generic).” Then click OK and proceed with the installation.

Installing Red Hat 6.2 with Ethernet Cables Connected to the On-board Ethernet Ports

Before installing Red Hat 6.2, ensure that only one of the two on-board Ethernet ports is connected to an Ethernet cable. Either one of the two Ethernet ports can be used.

Note: If both Ethernet ports have cables inserted during the installation of Red Hat 6.2, the installation will fail.

If desired, you can configure the second Ethernet port after you have completed the installation of Red Hat 6.2 and after you have rebooted the system.
